The Papua New Guinea Australia Association of Victoria (PNGAAV) is proud to announce two exciting events to celebrate PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary this year!

First up, we have our Independence Market Day happening on Saturday, 6th September 2025. Bring your family and friends along to enjoy a vibrant day of food, market stalls, cultural performances, and traditional music. It will be a fun-filled community event where we celebrate our heritage and showcase the best of Papua New Guinea in the heart of Victoria.

 

Then, get ready to dress your best for our formal Independence Celebration Ball Night on Saturday, 13th September 2025. This special evening will feature live entertainment, a delicious three-course meal, cultural performances, and lots of dancing as we honor our history and look to the future with pride.

 

Both events are open to everyone — Papua New Guineans, friends of PNG, and the wider community. We invite you all to come together, celebrate, and make this 50th Independence Anniversary truly unforgettable!
