The PNG Independence Family Day hosted by the PNG Australia Association Victoria (PNGAAV) at Yarraville Gardens was a joyful and sunny celebration, bringing together the local community and Papua New Guineans living in Victoria. The event featured a mix of arts, crafts, PNG products, and delicious food stalls.

Families and friends relaxed on mats and chairs, soaking up the sunshine while enjoying great company, music and performances. The cultural highlights included traditional dances from the Central Province and energetic routines from the New Ireland boys, many of whom are PALM scheme workers in Australia. The dances were a tribute to celebrating Papua New Guinea’s rich cultural heritage.
